  • Palaver

Had such a good start to the day then my blog got all Satanic and decided to have a life of it's own outside of my keyboard! First my header phot dissapeared, then my profile picture went too. Then went I went into media I hade someone else's photo's.

I just closed everything and started again but cannot find my original header photo and I can't reduce the text unless I open a Pro Account!!!

  • Not my fault

I seem to have an ad for Christian Music CD's under my entry! I know this is a music blog but this ad is nothing to do with me whatsoever!!

  • and tonight Mathew . . . .

....I am listening to The Screen Behind The Mirror by Enigma with their lifts from Carmina Burana and completely enjoying the nostalgia. I thought Engima was just the greatest when they first came along. I know that the mixing with Gregorian chants annoyed a few purist but tough I say to them. It was different and it worked!

Am loading some tracks onto my ipod tonight which is a rarity. Up to 586 track now which, apparently, will keep me going 1.9 days. Made a few new folders over the last week; Jazz, Soundtracks, Excersize and Cool. Somehow comforting to think that anyone else with an ipod and whom had the same folders, would most probably have totally different tracks in them.

Can't help myself, just have to mention the weather - there it was, I mentioned it and that's all I am saying as it's not worth valuable typing time to give more detail other than it sucks.

    3 things about today:

I had my hair cut way too short

I'm having a [slimming] hot chocolate to watch Big brother with

    I'm a day older.

    brontes

This is my cute cat Bronte who is sitting on top of my scanner looking up at me as I blog. No, she's not looking adoring - she just wants me to move so that she can nab the warm spot.

  • Massive Attack

    I love this self-employment thing.
Did my finances today and discovered I was still broke so decided to pop out and buy The Massive Attack Collection.
Never really understood exactly who they are but love their music. Understand that the enigma they create is on purpose and it works, moody they definately are but very atmospheric.

Already have Protection and Blue Lines.

Their artwork is very strange and the thick book which comes with it contains tons of it, sort of stuff you don't understand but need to keep looking at.

Listening to it - they could have done the score for Jarhead from this collection.

May be broke but I'm happy.

  • No Music Monday

No music at all this weekend. Garden stuff in between the showers. I do seem to be moving on a bit with all my stuff I want to get up to date with and I reckon soon I'll be able to start my Music Database which I really need as I just do not know what music I have at the moment.

Did see a couple of good movies though - Swimming Upstream with Judy Davis and Geoffrey Rush. Obviously with these 2 main actors it was an Australian movie with Davis the best I have ever seen her.

Then The Woodsman with Kevin Bacon. A brave choice on his part as he played a pedophile on parole. He was excellent and it's a shame that due to the subject matter he didn't get a look in at the Oscars. I am sure this caused some controversy on it's release as it is a little sympathetic towards the main character. Mos Def does a good turn as well.

One piece of musical enlightenment over the weekend. I realise that I can burn MP3's onto a CD and then play them through my DVD recorder and play through my stereo system which is hooked up to the DVD recorder, thereby having music going on for hours without having to change a single CD. A simple thing but it has cheered me up on this miserbale, rainy Monday.

  • Kites and Time

This is my first blog entry in May! How did that heppen? Time and work I guess. I spend every day saying to myself that I must get to my blog .. is it only me who realy enjoys blogging but gets a little pressurised about it?

Bank holiday weekend, travelled to Weymouth Kite Festival with my sis Jac and best mate Lexy. Weather dry - wind [sadly] non existant and as this is a key ingredient at a Kite Festival they had some 'technical difficulties'. Did pick up some great tips, saw a guy flying 3 kites at once and heavily got into formation flying [don't laugh], so much so that we went up to Portland Bill to give it a go.

Portland Bill is stunning with jagged coastline and lighthouse etc. BUT we discovered a new community up there. A community of shed keepers. Apparently these are weekend getaways for the locals BUT they don't look like seaside chalets or cabins. They look like, well, um, sheds. Felt like we had stumbled into a secret society. Take a look for your selves:-

Music Abuse was at an all time high at the Festival as some of the demo's and routines were done to music. Firstly the music was relayed through metal, horn speakers tied to street lamposts. Now as I have learned from my hospital radio outside events, these speakers are for speech use only as they have no bass or treble or anything. The sound of music through them somehow just finds the right nerve in your inner ear to render you mad for the rest of the day.

Then there was the choice of music. Carmina Burana [through horn speakers remember], Blowing In the Wind and a dreadful Boyzone track.
In fact it made me think that I should set up a company where I can supply Mood Music for events.

The commentators were quite unique in their nerdyness endlessly rabbiting on about bridle lenghts and kite fabric and wind directions - to an extent that you wished someone would tie them to a large kite and launch them to pastures unknown. They made the classic mistake of rambling on and on when there was nothing to say or nothing to watch. A gem was in the making when one of them said 'yes, the sea is known to be very wet down here in Weymouth'!!!

All in all a weekend where I chilled [especially on Portland Bill when I got very cold] and had some fun.
